Maybe I’m tired of making my human figures beautiful in some way -these are harsh and ugly. I do love aesthetically beautiful figures and mark making as long as it’s combined with something inherently disturbing.....

Longing to drip bitumen paint but sometimes it jus Longing to drip bitumen paint but sometimes it just doesn’t ‘work’ if it’s too cold in my studio. This detail from ‘Black Rhino, White Rhino’ (oil and bitumen on canvas, 90x30x4cm, 2018) shows the detail that a be achieved-on a good day. 

Bitumen has to be just the right viscosity to get these curvilinear lines.  So on with the show!
