During the COVID19 crisis I have been in lockdown at home and painting in whatever space available. I have created lots of new work including ‘Sleepless nights, Complicated Days’. Part of my ‘Domestopias’ series of paintings that show the ambivalence and contradiction of carers’s lives, this painting was planned before the lockdown and finished during this extended  ‘Stay at home’ period.

These paintings are ambitious large and colourful, hoping to show our complicated domestic lives so that we can understand and change our attitudes towards the value of care in society. This especially resonates with all of us at this time– not just carers with young children but those for whom enforced domesticity is not only delightsome but exhausting and complicated.
