A big thank you to curator Amy Dignam who included two small paintings and two small assemblage works at this wonderful show at the Platform One Gallery in Wandsworth. All of the work featured was by artists who are mothers or make work about motherhood. Desperate art wives is the name of a group of women who celebrate motherhood by making work often despite the issues they face as mothers and women in the art world.
The pieces submitted dealt with representations of motherhood including the (Give me) Respect Triptych made from an assemblage of found objects and mixed media and looked wonderful combined with other thoughtful and colourful works.
